PRESQUE ISLE LOOP        UP
PORCUPINE WILDERNESS
DATE HIKED: Multiple times; most recent September 13th, 2020 (Sunday)
FELLOW HIKERS: Unknown
TIME: 1:30 to 3:00
WEATHER: A bit gray and wet, but the last of the drizzly autumn days on this trip.
DISTANCE: 3 miles (only halfway this time)
DIFFICULTY: easy, some steep stairs but mostly boardwalk.
WHY AREN'T THERE MORE PEOPLE HERE?: This stretch takes you from where the Presque Isle drains into Lake Superior and along a great trail that takes you by five (5!) waterfalls. Quickly became one of my favorite hikes in the U.P.
BASEBALL TRIVIA: Alec Mills of the Cubs threw a no hitter that day I was last there and I just happened to catch the entire ninth inning when I turned the car on after the hike.
